MTA Catastrophic Leave Bank is members looking out for members. 

This bank of sick leave days donated by members is a reserve of time for those facing catastrophic circumstances and are out of leave. Someone already facing a life altering illness or life event should not also be worried about how to pay their bills. Created by teachers at Milpitas High School when one of their own was facing a devastating cancer diagnosis, the Catastrophic Leave Bank is part of MTA's legacy of looking out for and supporting each other.

How does it work?

Members enroll in the bank. Enrollment only happens once. Once you're enrolled, you stay a member.

When first enrolled, HR will take one day of leave from your balance. If the bank gets low on days, HR will take an additional day from each member of the bank to refill the balance.

If a member of the bank is ever in need of days, all they need to do is email the MTA president and provide the applicable information and documentation.
